PAWS

We Love Our Animals

One of the first 'family' decisions we made after getting married in June of 2002 was to adopt a dog. Marlo had grown up with a Maltese, a 6 pound white fluffy dog. Justin was raised with a Golden Retriever and a Rhodesian Ridgeback - both averaging around 100 pounds. We researched and deliberated endlessly about which breed would be a good fit for us. Unable to agree on a breed, we put the idea on hold.
One frigid Saturday morning in November 2002, we woke up and decided that this was the day to open our hearts. We were confident that there was a dog out there looking for a warm and loving home - no matter size nor color.
Although we are both business-minded, meticulous people - we took a leap of faith. We simply got up and started calling animal rescue organizations. PAWS was wonderful in answering our questions and concerns. In fact, they put us in contact with a kind-hearted woman who had taken in an abandoned mother and her 12 puppies. The puppies were only 2 days old when they had been thrown out of a car! With no crate, no food and no water bowl, we began our journey to adopting a puppy.
After a two-hour car ride and an agonizing decision over which puppy to take with us, we headed home with our 4-pound "Mouton" asleep in Marlo's lap. (Fondly named after Justin's favorite wine!)
He is the happiest little 'monster' you can imagine. And although he has certainly climbed the ladder of authority in our home pretty quickly, he is still aware that we rescued him. It is hard to recall our life prior to Mouton. He is our ray of sunshine everyday.
Realizing that there are a lot of animals in need of food and shelter, we are committed to donating a percentage of our commissions to PAWS. PAWS is a nonprofit organization based in the Norwalk, Connecticut area dedicated to rescuing homeless animals and placing them in loving new homes.
